Born in captivity, Kodjo was torn away from his mother at just a few weeks old. Abandoned in a cold, barren enclosure, longing for her warmth and the soothing sound of her gentle purrs. He spends his days confined to a cage where concrete floors replace the rich African soil he was meant to roam. With the little time he's allowed outside of his cage, he endures the harsh lights and blinding flashes of cameras as his captors seek to profit from his youth by selling experiences of cub petting and photos with him.
This is the reality for thousands of lion cubs born into the lion breeding industry in South Africa who will live their lives in a cycle of cruelty, used as props, hunting targets and breeding machines before they are senselessly killed.
