John,
After a long week of traveling, I am back in Helena just in time to celebrate Public Schools Week. This morning I spoke about the importance of investing in our public schools on the steps of our State Capitol, where so much of what happens in our schools is decided.

In the last week I've traveled from Glendive to Kalispell, talking to teachers, parents, and community members about our schools and our children. Our public schools represent a place for our neighbors, friends, and families to come together and a place for our children to grow.
Unfortunately this year we celebrate our schools in the midst of funding crises, teacher shortages, assaults on public education, and a legal battle in the highest court in the land that will determine the state of public education across the country for generations to come.
It is time for Montanans to renew our commitment to our constitution and ensure every child has access to a quality, public education.

I am running for State Superintendent of Public Instruction to restore real leadership to the Office of Public Instruction and show up for our children and the future of our state — because the quality of a child’s education shouldn't depend on where they're born or how much money their family has.

This Public Schools Week, join me in securing and expanding that same opportunity to future generations.
