Leen Valley Day of Action
*In June, local councillors, council officers and partners held a ‘Day of Action’ in Leen Valley Ward.*
This was an occasion for all to get out and help tidy the local community via litter picks. We know how important having a clean, local area is for residents. We were really proud of the people of Whitemore Estate and other areas coming out and showing community spirit in making their area as nice as possible. Also involved were the children and staff from Robert Shaw Primary school.
It was great to be working alongside so many different people seeking to improve Leen Valley and help keep our community clean. As part of the Day of Action, a Green Doctor service provide advice on energy saving and gave out radiator insulation and light bulbs.
Finally at St Margarets Church Hall, Councillors held a meet the councillor event with refreshments. This was an opportunity for residents, to meet with councillors. We were able to provide advice and support to residents who attended. It was great to be working alongside so many different people seeking to improve Leen Valley and help keep our community clean.

Introducing your new Leen Valley Councillor
I am Nadia Farhat, your newly elected Labour Councilor. I want to express my gratitude to the voters who placed their trust in me, entrusting me with the role and honour of being their local councillor. I am committed to upholding this trust!
My drive lies in enabling local residents and advocating for them in addressing the challenges they encounter. I am eager to collaborate with all of you to increase opportunities and improvements in education, healthcare, employment, while also improving our local environment and living conditions.
A personal goal of mine is to increase involvement from local women in politics, empowering them to actively participate in all local matters. This includes focusing on older women and those from the BAME community.
I am already immersed in case work and am excited about the prospect of making change at the local level.

Leen Valley Park Upgrade on Chapman Court
park
Councillor Audrey Dinnall was made aware by local residents of the need for the Local Park to be updated whilst on Councillors Ward Walk last year, the park is used by families with both young and older children and was in need of refurbishment.
Councillor Dinnall listened to the residents and carried out consultation which resulted in the upgrade of the Park funded from Area Capital Fund Public Realm Budget.
Local residents were very pleased that Councillor Dinnall had listened to their voices and thank the Ward Councillors updating the parking and putting in new furniture.
*The families in the area are enjoying the upgraded park, it is great to see families once again enjoying and making full use of Park. *

Councillor Farhat visited the Robert Shaw summer fair
Being invited to the Robert Shaw summer fair was truly an honour. I had the pleasure of judging the cupcakes made by pupils, and I must say, all the cakes were fantastic! The event was a great success, and the staff should be commended for their hard work, despite the rain trying to dampen the atmosphere. We had an excellent turnout!
During the fair, I had the opportunity to meet locals and discuss various issues in the local area, including concerns about antisocial behaviour, fly tipping, and parking problems. I will follow up on these issues as casework to seek positive outcomes for the residents of Leen Valley.
Looking forward to continuing to make a difference and serving the community.
