🩺 Two Pediatricians’ Statement on Transgender Kids Ignores Three Words That Have Guided Doctors for Millennia: This week in Fox News, Independent Women's Forum Visiting Fellow and pediatrician Dr. Marion Mass called out the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) for its misguided support for so-called "gender-affirming care" in pediatric patients. Along with coauthor and fellow pediatrician Dr. Nikki Johnson, Dr. Mass spelled out the lack of evidence for medical gender transition in kids and adolescents.

These treatments (including puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and surgeries) can come with significant risks and potential harms. Sadly, the medical establishment in the United States has followed perverse incentives—both financial and political—in recent years, abandoning the age-old principle of the practice of medicine: "First, do no harm."

As the AAP finally moves forward with a systematic review of the evidence on gender transition for adolescents, Drs. Mass and Johnson urge transparency, honesty, and a hard look at what went wrong.

** Less Government Will Help Relieve the U.S. Foster Care Crisis ([link removed])
------------------------------------------------------------
The U.S. foster system is broken. Children are getting “lost” in the system, and the outcomes for those in the system are abysmal. Despite the fact that there’s a dearth of families who do actually foster, there are plenty of families who want to open their homes to children but run into a maze of regulations, red tape, and confusing obstacles that discourage them from even getting started. As many as 60% of families who finally overcome the bureaucratic nightmare to become foster parents quit within the first year. Why are so many families opting out or refusing to join in the first place? Read More ([link removed])

** Charter Schools Deliver More Academic Bang per Educational Buck ([link removed])
------------------------------------------------------------
Researchers at the University of Arkansas found that public charter schools in 18 cities receive, on average, 30% less funding per student than the typical public school. This amounts to more than a $7,000 gap in per-pupil expenditure between traditional public schools and public charters. The union-led lie would have one believe that schools with less funding have worse outcomes. In reality, the opposite is true.
