HPRS Advisory Council connects homeless service provider needs and issues to ACEH strategy. The Advisory Council is also a forum for members to learn about what is happening in homelessness response and share their thoughts and opinions.

Homelessness is a systems problem
And systems can be improved to facilitate greater coordination and support.
Coordinated entry (CE) is a way to streamline and prioritize access to housing and services for people experiencing homelessness or housing instability. The power of CE lies in cooperation between local homelessness agencies and service providers, coupled with a shared understanding of guiding principles. This allows the separate organizations to work together as one unit instead of making individual decisions about who to serve and how best to serve them.
Washington, D.C., is just one of many Built for Zero communities implementing coordinated entry. The cross-sector team helps each stakeholder tap into real-time, by-name data and house veterans experiencing homelessness.
“It’s a coordinated process that ensures that no Veteran slips through the cracks,” explains Ilana Marmon, a coordinated entry specialist at the Washington VA Medical Center.

HUD PD&R Quarterly Publication Explores Role of Housing First Model in Addressing Homelessness
HUD’s Office of Policy Development and Research’s (PD&R) Spring/Summer 2023 issue of Evidence Matters, a quarterly publication covering evidence-based policymaking, examines the role of the Housing First model in addressing homelessness. The issue reviews the evidence establishing Housing First as an effective method for ending homelessness, spotlights successful case studies from Boston and Chattanooga, and makes the case that homelessness can be solved if evidence-based practices are aligned with political will.
