John,
Our health care system is not immune from the climate crisis that is
wreaking havoc and destruction across the country. Almost 90 percent of
Americans live in counties hit by a climate disaster within the last 10
years, and more than 600 U.S. hospitals are at risk of closure.
That’s why Pramila has partnered with Senator Edward Markey to introduce
the Granting Resources for Eliminating Emissions Now in (GREEN) Hospitals
Act. This legislation would invest $105 billion to revive a New Deal-era
program to modernize and weatherize health facilities to reduce emissions
and protect public health.

agree that we need to fortify our health care facilities against climate
change disasters and put public health and safety first, please add your

Now more than ever, we need to prepare for the aftermath of climate change
and ensure everyone has access to life saving health care. This bill
ensures Americans have access to healthcare before, during, and after
climate disasters and extreme weather events.
Pramila said it best, “As hospitals across America provide critical
lifesaving care every day, we must ensure they are able to operate under
severe weather conditions that have become far too prevalent due to the
climate crisis.”
Our health care facilities cannot weather our communities through the
literal and proverbial storm if they don’t have the infrastructure to
protect us now and in the future. That’s why the GREEN Hospitals Act is a
critical step towards a health system that recognizes that climate justice
is health justice.

and ensure that our health care facilities have the support they need to
protect our communities.
Together,
Team Pramila
