By Sarah Walker

+ Ahead of the debate, the Republican National Committee released ([link removed]) a video promoting early and mail-in voting to Republicans, a complete flip-flop from the last presidential cycle when the party repeatedly attacked the voting practices.

Here are some recent updates.
* Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost (R) rejected ([link removed]) ballot language submitted by a pro-voting group seeking to implement a citizen-led redistricting commission. Yost claimed the summary was not a “fair and truthful representation of the proposed amendment.”
* Wisconsin Republican lawmakers asked ([link removed]) for Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice Janet Protasiewicz to be recused from a lawsuit alleging that the state's legislative maps are gerrymandered to unfairly benefit the GOP.
* Also in Wisconsin, the Republican-controlled Legislature moved ([link removed]) to defend the state's restrictive absentee ballot rules from a lawsuit arguing that the requirements violate the state constitution.
* More than 25 Georgia-based voting rights organizations signed ([link removed]) a letter calling on Atlanta Democrats to abandon their plan to utilize signature matching in the validation process for a referendum on the building of the controversial "Cop City" in Atlanta, Georgia.
* Also in Georgia, Rudy Giuliani surrendered ([link removed]) to authorities at the Fulton County Jail. Giuliani was indicted on 13 charges, including violation of the state’s RICO law. His bond has been set at $150,000.
* Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) promoted ([link removed]) Justice Natalie Hudson to chief justice of the Minnesota Supreme Court. Hudson will be the first person of color to ever lead Minnesota's highest court when she takes over in October.
* It’s National Poll Worker Recruitment Day! Help power elections and democracy by signing up here ([link removed]) .

Here’s what’s happening in the courts tomorrow.
* There will be a hearing in a lawsuit ([link removed]) filed against right-wing activists and organizations — including Dinesh D’Souza, True the Vote and its leaders and others — alleging that the defendants falsely accused a Georgia voter of “ballot fraud” in their film and accompanying book “2000 Mules.”
* Oral argument will be held in a lawsuit ([link removed]) challenging Florida’s congressional map for violating the state’s constitution and diminishing the ability of Black voters to elect their candidates of choice. Catch up on what happened here ([link removed]) .
