TALCB met for its third quarter meeting of the year on August 18 and heard updates from staff, proposed new rules related to AMCs, and adopted changes to five TALCB AMC forms.
Written comments on proposed rules from the August TALCB Meeting are now being accepted.The most effective and useful comments detail specific issues with proposals. If you would like to comment on multiple proposals, submit each one individually.
What does it mean to be an appraiser and what does it take to become one? Entering the industry includes many hours of instruction and some money. But now, there is renewed focus on opportunity.
TALCB Director Melissa Tran is presenting at a workshop (tomorrow in Houston) to explain the requirements for entering the appraisal profession in Texas. She will also share innovative tools that TALCB has developed to simplify the appraiser application process.
Rolando Castro was reappointed to serve on the Board as an appraiser member. The Texas Senate confirmed his seat in April. Castro's term expires January 31, 2029.

New Exam Topics Resource
 TALCB now publishes exam topic reports for appraisers which identify the pass rates for each exam category. Education providers and students may find this information helpful in identifying topics where the success rate is lower.
88th Texas Legislature: Outcomes for Appraisers
On June 1, the PAVE Task Force published a dashboard that identifies areas where each U.S. state exceeds federal requirements for credentialing appraisers. States other than Texas that do not exceed the Appraiser Qualification Board's (AQB) Criteria are Colorado, Delaware, Montana, and Oklahoma.

Volunteer Appraisal Reviewers assist TALCB in performing appraisal reviews for experience audits, work product review requests, or complaint investigations.
