Highlighting the Importance of Education Across Mississippi
This past week, I enjoyed my visits at the Reading Nook Academy in Brookhaven and The Canopy School in Ridgeland. I also had the opportunity to meet with Head Start at my office in Brandon. Head Start has been a vital part of Mississippi’s education system for many years, and I am thankful for all the hard work these incredible educators and support personnel do keeping our students on track for success. I’m grateful to everyone devoted to the education of our young people and I wish them all a successful school year.
Macon Rotary Club
Thank you to the Macon Rotary Club for inviting me to speak this week. I’m proud to represent such great people and am thankful for the opportunity to give an overview of my work both here in Mississippi and in the United States Congress.
Supporting Finnish Christians
I’m proud to join 15 of my fellow members of Congress in sending a letter to Rashad Hussain, U.S. Ambassador-At-Large for International Religious Freedom, and Douglas Hickey, the U.S. Ambassador to Finland, asking them to continue raising concerns over the ongoing legal harassment of Christians. The Finish legal system is seeking to silence Member of Finish Parliament Päivi Räsänen and Bishop Juhana Pohjola for communicating traditional, Biblical views on marriage. Our letter makes clear: “No American, no Finn, and no human should face legal harassment for simply living out their religious beliefs.” I stand with MP Päivi Räsänen and Bishop Juhana Pohjola. Religious freedom is paramount to Americans, and as a member of Congress I condemn these actions against MP Räsänen and Bishop Pohjola for their Christianity. Read more here.
