Jack, it's been a rough year for news media outlets. Far too many have seen their advertising revenue diminish. For some, this meant continued support from a billionaire backer, adding a paywall, or increasing the cost for a subscription. For others, it meant financial cuts, staff layoffs, or in the case of Buzzfeed News, shutting down.

Meanwhile, progressive advocacy organizations have followed a similar pattern. With Trump no longer in office, fundraising has dried up. Just like news media outlets, progressive advocacy groups have been facing some financial struggles.

Why do I mention all this? Because Daily Kos sits at the crossroads of news media and progressive activism.
