Dear John,

Every Friday night in June and July, ZSL London Zoo hold their now notorious β€œLate Zoo Nights’ event - which sees food vendors, drinks vans, musicians, and party revellers descend upon the grounds after-hours.

How, in 2023, can it be deemed acceptable to hold this type of event so close to vulnerable animals? Is it to boost ticket sales and make more money?

As part of our wider zoo campaign work we sent one of our investigators to the event to find out more...

Sadly, the suffering was clear to see throughout the event. Asim, a male Sumatran tiger, was visibly disturbed and paced relentlessly across his small enclosure, growling at his cubs in frustration as he wandered past them.

And Asim was not the only animal at the zoo that was visibly distressed. You can read more about this in our new blog:

Our investigators are tasked with exposing the truth behind the expensive marketing packages zoos advertise to the general public. They help us to spread awareness of the suffering these animals endure and help shine a light on their individual stories.

In the long term these investigations will form part of our wider zoo campaign to end the captivity of animals, including working towards a ban on these cruel after-hours events that only escalate the stresses of captivity.

And we can only do this important work with you by our side! So please, if you can, join us as a regular donor today and join our amazing group of Freedom Champions.
BECOME A FREEDOM CHAMPION TODAY! ([link removed])
We have already seen so many of you continue to help animals as part of our Freedom Champion Sign-Up Month 2023, and we are incredibly grateful for all the support so far.

But we still need to keep increasing our number of compassionate regular donors so we can continue to expose the cruelty of captivity.

Plus, all of this month, as part of our World Elephant Day celebrations, when you sign up to giving a monthly gift, you will receive a free eco-cuddly elephant as an extra special thank you!

To those who are already valued Freedom Champions, thank you for your commitment and for making what we do possible. Our investigations are only achieveable as a direct result of your support.
