The Minnesota State Fair?s roots run deep in local agriculture. In fact, the first state fair in 1858 was presented by the Minnesota Agricultural Society as a way to showcase the state?s agricultural offerings.
So when you plan your state fair trip this year, don't?miss the Minnesota Department of Agriculture wing in the classic Agriculture/Horticulture Building!

In the Minnesota Grown area, you can* win a signature Minnesota Grown reusable Swedish dishcloth, *chat?with a local farmer, explore the variety of products made by local producers, pose with the #MNGrown barn, and show your local pride with a free temporary tattoo!

Minnesota Agriculture in the Classroom [ [link removed] ]?will be leading *hands-on activities for kids* from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. every day of the state fair! Learn to make seed tape with arugula seeds from Minnesota Grown member North Circle Seeds.

Visit the Emerging Farmers Office [ [link removed] ] display to learn more about pathways and resources available to *support new and emerging farmers* in Minnesota. Representatives from the office and a number of emerging farmers will be at the booth throughout the fair, offering the chance to discuss ways the MDA can help underserved farmers overcome barriers they face.
