Dwight Evans for Congress

John, it's time to talk about reparations for the descendants of slaves.

Issues like this are hard for some. They're complicated and uncomfortable. But tomorrow is National Reparations Awareness Day, and it's critical we confront the truth about America's past, as well as the repercussions and reverberations of past injustices in 2020.

Our country needs to have a comprehensive conversation about reparations for slavery and Jim Crow legal oppression. That's why Dwight co-sponsored legislation that would establish a commission to begin considering reparations for descendants of slaves. Join him and become a grassroots co-sponsor of the Commission to Study and Develop Reparation Proposals for African-Americans Act today.

Slavery and racism have had a huge role in shaping present-day realities for many African Americans. Inequalities in education, health care, criminal justice policy, generational wealth and -- yes -- policing practices are rooted in the continuing economic implications of slavery.

This bill will begin the long-delayed process of addressing racism in this country. Dwight is proud to have finally introduced this legislation in the House, but he needs to know that you support these critical racial justice efforts: add your name today.

Thanks,

Congressman Evans HQ
