Eight candidates will take the stage tonight: Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum, Sen. Tim Scott (S.C.), former Vice President Mike Pence, former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, and last minute addition, former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson. Trump will still not be in attendance.

Trump to turn himself in after election indictment

Trump says he will surrender at the Fulton County Jail in Atlanta on Thursday for the 13 felony counts he faces for the attempt to overthrow the election. The 18 other defendants have until Friday at noon to turn themselves in.

In a historic referendum, Ecuador residents voted against a new oil project that would prompt drilling in the Yasuní National Park in the Amazon. The vote took place during the first round of presidential elections on Sunday.

Leading U.N. Judge: U.K. must make reparations for slave trade

Judge Patrick Robinson, from the International Court of Justice, said the U.K. must make reparations for the transatlantic slave trade. Robinson proposes that payments be made over a 10-25 year period.

Store owner fatally shot over LGBTQ+ pride flag

Last week, store owner Laura Ann Carleton was fatally shot by a man for having a Pride flag in her shop in California. The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department identified the suspect as 27-year-old Travis Ikeguchi, who ran off after the shooting and was later killed by law enforcement.
