Tonight, Republicans will have their first presidential primary debate in Milwaukee. And make no mistake, that choice is intentional. Why? Because Republicans know that Wisconsin is going to be critical in 2024.
In 2020, Biden won Wisconsin by 0.63% — just over 20,000 votes. In 2022, Ron Johnson beat us by 1% — just over 27,000 votes. And I have no doubt that 2024 will be just as close.
Wisconsin is going to be the #1 battleground state in 2024, and our 10 electoral college votes are going to be the difference between a president that works for the people or a self-interested extremist.

Milwaukee is my home. It’s where I have my roots, and tonight, Republicans are going to use our city to preach division and undemocratic values. That doesn't roll with me.
But we have an opportunity tonight to show the GOP just how much Wisconsin is willing to fight back against extremist candidates. And we can do that by supporting Democrats up and down the ballot.
This is just the beginning of the GOP’s aggressive campaign to win Wisconsin, so we must do all we can to fight back against their agenda.
Let’s do this.
