John,
The 7 hottest days in the last 100,000 years all happened in one week this July.
Antarctica is suffering from heatwave temperatures 40°C above average – in the middle of its winter.
It's too hot. And we all know that fossil fuels are to blame, yet reckless companies like Shell and BP are planning to send an army of lobbyists to hijack UN climate talks in November. They’ll stop at nothing to block meaningful climate action and protect their billion dollar profits.
But it's not bought-and-paid-for governments in charge of these talks. It's the UN. The UN head of climate, Simon Stiell, is from Grenada, a small Caribbean island whose people know first hand the threat posed by rising seas and more violent storms. Let's show Stiell support for cleaning up these talks!
UN: Ban fossil fuel corporations from attending the climate talks in Dubai!
The UN Secretary General has said the era of global warming has ended and the “era of global boiling has arrived”.
The historic Paris Climate Agreement and countries’ progress on reducing emissions will be reviewed at these upcoming UN climate talks. We know world leaders have not done enough but the talks are an opportunity to course correct and speed up the transition away from coal, oil and gas.
But that won’t happen if fossil fuel corporations are at the talks holding secret lobbying meetings with politicians and dictating the outcome. The UN has the power to ban these planet-wrecking corporations, we just need to show it that there’s enough public support.
Add your name to the petition calling on the UN to ban fossil fuel lobbyists from the UN climate talks.
