Republican efforts to suppress the vote are getting more egregious as the stakes in the 2020 election get higher.

In Wisconsin, conservatives have attempted to force more than 200,000 people off the voting rolls -- but a Milwaukee Journal Sentinel analysis found that the vast majority are regular voters. (Don't forget that in 2016, Donald Trump won Wisconsin by only 22,000 votes.)

Republican-controlled Georgia -- where Governor Brian Kemp defeated Stacey Abrams after suppressing the vote as secretary of state -- recently kicked more than 300,000 people off the rolls.

And Texas has been cutting early voting sites on the campuses of historically black colleges and universities.

The pattern is clear: When Republicans are scared they can't win, they cheat -- just like they do with gerrymandering. And it means that if we want to stop them and ensure fair maps, we'll have to work even harder to seek out voters and get them to the polls. Because the 2020 election is too important not to get right.
