It was beyond heartbreaking to see the raging fires that consumed Maui, especially knowing Californians face wildfires every year and the massive flooding that recently came with Hurricane Hillary.
Despite the tragedies happening in Hawaii and at home, the heroism displayed by brave first responders is touching and inspiring.
Whether it's Maui, California, or anywhere else in America, these are the people on the front lines who show up to protect thousands of victims battling a natural disaster.
I will continue to fight for proper forest management moving forward, but I think it's most important right now to express gratitude and appreciation to the emergency responders who show up when no one else can.
