Friend,
My name is Debbie Mucarsel-Powell. I’m an immigrant, mother, and former Congresswoman. Today, I’m announcing my campaign to defeat Sen. Rick Scott and serve as Florida’s next U.S. Senator.
Rick Scott has failed us in Florida, and I refuse to sit back and watch him push my state and country backward. I’m prepared to fight to protect our rights, our economy, and our very democracy — and even more, I’m prepared to win.
But this race will be one of the most competitive Senate races in 2024, and we’re up against a deep-seated Republican incumbent who spent $64 million of his personal fortune to buy this seat last time around. The only way I can compete – and win – is with the support of grassroots Democrats like you.
I've set an ambitious goal to raise $500,000 within the first 24 hours of launching my campaign to defeat Rick Scott, and I need your help to reach it. Please, will you split a donation between my campaign and Ben Ray Luján right now to flip Florida blue and expand our Senate majority?

If you've saved payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately and be split between Debbie Mucarsel-Powell and Ben Ray Luján:
When I was 14, my mom, my three sisters, and I left our home in Ecuador to find a better life in America. We lived in a one room apartment. My mom worked double-shifts during the day and took classes at night to learn English. I picked up shifts at the local doughnut shop to help make ends meet.
Those years weren’t easy. But thanks to my mother’s relentless belief in a brighter future for her children, I went on to graduate from college, become the first South American immigrant to serve in Congress, and write the bill to expand Medicare Advantage coverage.
My story – coming from a one room apartment to walking the halls of Congress – is only possible in America. But Rick Scott has spent his time in Washington doing everything he can to destroy the country that gave my family a shot at a better life.
Rick Scott has a net worth up to nearly a quarter of a billion dollars, yet he’s proposed tax increases on working families and the middle class. He’s pushed for a nationwide abortion ban. And he wrote the GOP plan to end the Social Security and Medicare that so many rely on.
That’s why I’m running to defeat him next November. Experts say that Rick will be one of the most vulnerable senators on the ballot — which means that if we build a powerful grassroots team full of people like you, friend, we can take him down.
So please, I’m personally asking: Will you become one of my very first grassroots donors by splitting a gift between my campaign and Ben Ray Luján today? Every dollar gets us one step closer to defeating Rick Scott and defending our Senate majority.
Thank you for joining me in this fight for a better Florida and a better future for all of us.
With gratitude,
Debbie Mucarsel-Powell
