John, last week
Donald Trump faced his fourth criminal indictment in a span of just five
months.

This time, prosecutors in Georgia are seeking to hold him accountable for
violating the state’s Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act,
in addition to other charges related to his attempt to overturn Georgia’s
2020 presidential election results.

One thing should be clear: Fox News and others in the right-wing media
echo chamber helped spread a massive amount of misinformation that was
designed to give Trump and his accomplices a veil of legitimacy over their
attempt to overturn the election.

Our newsrooms have laid out the facts about the Big Lie from the very
beginning, and we’ll never shy away from calling out misinformation — on
this topic or any other:

Donald Trump’s claims of massive, widespread voter fraud in 2020 were
never anything more than fiction, yet Fox and others helped spread
unsubstantiated rumors that convinced millions of Trump’s followers that
his bogus claims were true.

A poll worker was even harassed at her home over false accusations that
she had somehow acted improperly, highlighting the potentially dangerous
consequences of spreading this type of misinformation.

Courier Newsroom is committed to doing things differently. Our mission is
to bring the facts to our readers and provide the context needed to
understand them, not to drive ad revenue with clickbait headlines and
viral gossip.

But with none of our content locked behind a paywall, we rely on donors
like you to fund our work. And with newsrooms in nine battleground states
(and more coming soon), there’s a lot of work to get done.

you're with us in the fight against misinformation and want to help us
keep providing quality, fact-based journalism to news deserts across the
country, will you pitch in $5 or any amount now to support
our work?
