I got into this race because Michiganders need Senators in D.C. who are willing to fight for real change and make the government work for us again. And for far too long, the filibuster in the U.S. Senate has been standing in the way of the change we need.

The filibuster has enabled a small minority of Senators to hold our democracy hostage and block actions supported by supermajorities of Americans, from gun control and abortion rights to climate action, labor protections and voting rights.

That’s why, as Michigan’s next U.S. Senator, I’m committed to being the 51st vote to end the filibuster once and for all.

Until we remove the ability for a few rogue Senators to hold the entire country back, we’ll never live up to our full potential. And unless we fix what’s broken in the U.S. Senate, our chances of making real progress on nearly every issue we care about are slim.
