When I talk about policy a perfect example of my focus is affordable housing. If tomorrow, we had all the funding needed to build the housing that is desperately needed in our community; we would still face roadblocks.
We would still need each community’s buy-in to build affordable housing units. We would need approval from the zoning body. And of course we would need enough contractors with the licenses and experience to build those units. For me, being an effective Congressperson is not just about voting on legislation and budgets, it’s about a comprehensive approach to making change.
I know how to get the smartest people in the room together and how to turn great sounding ideas into reality.
This involves building a rockstar team that’s consistently accessible, fostering collaboration across all levels of government, business, and community, along with pushing sustained public advocacy to ensure things move past hurdles.
I think this element of team and cross-sector coalition building makes such a difference. Because it’s not just what one member of Congress can accomplish alone, it’s about what our networks can accomplish together.
I will never stop working to make Delaware an entrepreneurial hub. I want to create a space where affordable healthcare and housing are human rights, a state full of outstanding schools, and where people feel it’s safe to allow their kids to play outside.
I can’t make this vision a reality without communicating it to voters, and to do that it takes resources.
That is why I am asking for your help. Can you chip in and help us order the voter contact materials we need to get the word out?
