Monarchs officially reached endangered species status according to the International Union for the Conservation of Nature. Their rapid decline is due in large part to pesticides that kill milkweed – the ONLY plant where monarchs lay their eggs.

North American monarch populations have crashed 90% over the past few decades. These butterflies used to fill the autumn sky with stunning orange and black displays during their epic migrations. But fewer and fewer monarchs are alive to make the journey every year.
