Last year, I traveled through the cottonfields of South Carolina with Senator Nina Turner, Bernie Sanders’ National Co-Chair, and Dr. Victoria Dooley, a Bernie 2020 National Surrogate, on our way to a Medicare for Y’all rally.
Recently, Dr. Jason Johnson, MSNBC contributor, The Root political editor, and professor just called women like us and Briahna Joy Gray, the Bernie 2020 National Press Secretary, “misfit black girls” for unapologetically expressing our political opinions and supporting Presidential Candidate & front-runner Senator Bernie Sanders.
Fellow national surrogate, Phillip Agnew, called Johnson’s comments “deep disdain masquerading as journalism”. Well John, I’m not scared, I’m not sorry, and I’m not going anywhere. |

Political pundits love to tear us down because they know what we can do, and they’re scared. They don’t want us to win big, because it would prove what we’ve known all along: that we’re on the right side of history. We’re already changing the “game” of American politics, and with new ideas and people power on our side, we will pull off victory after grassroots victory. |
