Today, I'd like to share a recent achievement: in collaboration with La Union del Pueblo Entero (LUPE), we successfully gathered signatures for a living wage for city workers in Edinburg!

Unfortunately, the city rejected our petition due to the residency of our signature collectors, a clear violation of 1st Amendment rights. We tried negotiating with them, but ultimately had to take the matter to court—and we won, with a federal judge ruling that the city's refusal was unconstitutional.

Now our battle continues as we strive to ensure the city adopts and enforces the living wage policy.

I joined Ground Game Texas knowing our work persists beyond campaigns. Every action we undertake, from grassroots organizing to legal challenges, serves as a powerful reminder that the fight for social justice and democracy is a fight for all of us here in Texas.

John, as we organize with residents across Texas, remember: it's the working-class and the underserved, who are the bedrock of our vibrant neighborhoods. We stand deeply committed to organizing from within our communities because decisions about us should involve us. We cannot allow elitist and out-of-touch voices, unfamiliar with the pressures and challenges our communities face, to dictate the conditions in which we live.
