Hello from St. Paul,
?
Last session, a $300 million nursing home package was unanimously approved by the Minnesota House. This occurred after House Republicans began pressuring Governor Tim Walz and the House Democrat majority, who previously dedicated just $3.9 million to new nursing home funding in their original budget proposals for the new biennium.
?
Area nursing homes began receiving this new and critical funding this month.
?
We have nursing homes in this state that have taken out financial loans to keep their doors open, and that is just unacceptable. While this new revenue doesn?t completely solve the problems our facilities are facing, I?m hopeful it will make it a bit easier for them to provide care for our aging loved ones.
