Instead of doing their job for North Carolinians, Raleigh Republicans are twiddling their thumbs. They’re focusing on culture-war legislation when they SHOULD be working on (finally) passing a budget to fund our public schools, give state employees the resources they need, and enact Medicaid Expansion.

You see, even though we agreed to expand Medicaid in March, it hasn’t gone into effect yet because they needlessly tied it to passage of the budget and they’ve dragged their feet on that. Now, thousands of North Carolinians who were able to get coverage during the pandemic are having their health care coverage ripped away.

The fact is, the GOP has a one-vote supermajority in both chambers of the Assembly. They SHOULD be able to come to an agreement within their own party to fund our state government!

We need these legislators to put our state and our people first. We need them to think about the families kicked off their health care, the rural health centers that may be forced to close, and the public schools and teachers that are counting on funding to make sure kids get the education they deserve.
