Dear John,
Wildlands Network made its name in conservation by creating and disseminating maps.
We believe that maps provide a window into the possible. They lay a visual foundation for a journey toward places you have not yet encountered or can’t yet see clearly, but that exist “out there.”
As a result, we’ve made maps of the continental wildways, maps showing how to reconnect discrete regions (called “Wildlands Network Designs”), maps to communicate an idea of what conservation at a continental- and landscape-scale looks like.
In this newsletter, I’m pleased to share stories about how Wildlands Network’s mapping projects have evolved and grown to inform recent successes and make new connections. Read the articles below to see the first-ever wildlife crossings map of California, a guide to GIS modeling, often untold perspectives, and more.
Collectively, these maps lay the foundation for the vibrant future we are creating together.
