John,
In 2023 alone, you’ve helped pass Personal Option-style health care reforms in
12 states, including hard-fought wins in Arizona, Florida, South Carolina, and
West Virginia.
As a reminder and thank you for all you do as an activist for opportunity and
prosperity, I’ll tell you the story of the 7 wins in Texas …
Americans for Prosperity helped enact seven health care reform bills in Texas
this year — reforms consistent withAFP’s Personal Option plan that reduces
government control and expands patient access to better care at more affordable
prices.
These signature wins were made possible by a combination of grassroots
capabilities, direct lobbying, and highly targeted mailers and digital ads.
And they serve to shift the foundation of health policy in Texas in the right
direction AND be an example to rest of America.
What are these wins?
Two top ones include:
* Expanding direct primary care so more Texans can receive unlimited access
to primary care and preventative services for a flat monthly fee.
* Allowing individuals and small businesses to band together to buy health
insurance through association health plans.
AFP worked alongside state lawmakers to help drive these bills through the
legislature.
And when the bills encountered challenges, AFP put concerned citizens like you
back into action.
The volunteers and staff you support knocked 127,000 doors across the state to
hear directly from Texans about challenges they were facing in health care.
These same activists and staffers went to speak with lawmakers in Austin.
One of their key findings? AFP learned that 75% of Texans they spoke with
would like to see less government control over health care.
Zack, an AFP field staffer from Houston, shared stories about patients who
fell behind on their medical bills and couldn’t access care because of too much
government control in health care.
The grassroots push and supportive advertising reinforced AFP’s under-the-dome
lobbying in Austin — and ultimately helped ensure Texans will enjoy a better
environment for health care.

In the video, the Costa family shares how they were forced to travel 1,000
miles from Texas to Minnesota to get the lifesaving care they needed for their
son. The Costas say they hope the reforms AFP is leading will help establish
localized care they can be confident in.
That’s the difference a Personal Option can help make.
Thanks,
