Dear Friend,

As your representative in Congress, an important part of my job is assisting you with issues you may be experiencing with the federal government.

Whether it's ensuring veterans receive the care and benefits they deserve from the VA, helping seniors with the Social Security Administration, helping residents resolve issues with the IRS, or renewing passports through the State Department - my office and I stand ready to assist.

Although we cannot override a decision made by a federal agency, we can often intervene on a person's behalf to answer questions, find solutions, or cut through the bureaucratic red tape.

Passport Renewal Assistance

If you are planning to travel internationally within the year or next year, be sure to check your passport's expiration date as soon as possible.

The State Department has seen an increased demand for passport renewals, and processing times have significantly increased from previous years.

If your situation is an emergency that requires immediate attention (an urgent passport request, an ill family member overseas, etc.) please call my district office in Newnan at 770-683-2033 (after submitting the digital privacy release) in order to make my staff aware of the time sensitivity of your inquiry.

I'm also including some passport renewal tips below, along with a one-pager with information.

It is recommended to renew your passport at least 6 months prior to travel.
Current processing times for passports are 10 to 13 weeks for routine processing and 7 to 9 weeks for expedited processing. However, both may vary due to the volume of applications.
It may take up to 2 weeks for applications to arrive by mail at a passport agency or center and up to 2 weeks to receive a completed passport in the mail after being printed by the State Department.
The State Department recommends not traveling with a passport if its expiration date is within 6 months of your date of return to the United States.

If you need assistance with a federal agency like the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), or the Social Security Administration, my team and I are ready to help.
