Donald Trump has been given a Friday deadline to turn himself in to the Fulton County Jail in Georgia for processing after being indicted for attempting to overturn the 2020 election.
Unlike his federal indictments so far, Trump's indictment in Georgia for racketeering and other felony charges was broadcast live on TV. NBC reports the eventual trial will also likely be broadcast live.
The public needs to see Trump’s federal trial for trying to end American democracy. Georgia is proving it is possible!
The Washington Post, members of Congress, and others are demanding that the federal Judicial Conference (helmed by Chief Justice John Roberts) break with tradition and allow cameras in the federal courtroom.
The New York Times explicitly wrote, "Americans will believe the Trump verdict only if they can see it." This is about the trial’s legitimacy.
Public pressure will matter. In fact, it’s necessary right now.
We’ll keep the media informed of growing momentum. Thanks for being a bold progressive.
