Our race against Lauren Boebert has officially moved from “Lean Republican” to true “Toss-Up!”
Here’s what Dave Wasserman of the Cook Political Report had to say about why our chances of winning have increased:
Not only has Boebert avoided taking any steps to moderate her image since coming within 546 votes of losing to former Aspen Councilman Adam Frisch in 2022, Frisch outraised her by a massive $2.6 million to $810,000 in the second quarter thanks to an avalanche of small-dollar donations. Frisch ended June with $2.4 million on hand to Boebert's $1.4 million, and Frisch can leverage that to bash Boebert for leading the hard-right charge to block the defense reauthorization bill over wedge social issue concerns.
A lopsided cash picture won't guarantee a Frisch win, though. Both parties agree this rematch will be decided by the roughly 80,000 voters who didn't show up in 2022 but will in 2024, who skew independent. Those non-voting independents may be more open to Donald Trump than those who showed up in the midterms. More crucially, Frisch won't get a free pass from national GOP groups this time: the NRCC and CLF are likely to invest heavily...
He’s right. This is going to be a tough race. I’m running in a district that leans Republican by 8 or 9 percentage points.
But last year, we came just 546 votes shy of defeating Lauren Boebert. It was the closest race in the entire country, and the latest poll shows another tie: 45% to 45%.
A huge part of why we lost in 2022 was just that we got out-spent by millions and millions of dollars – and Boebert’s allies are preparing to spend even more this time to tell ridiculous lies about me on every television across the district.
