Dear
Reader,
It is an honor to formally announce the thirty-sixth annual Erasmus Lecture, to be held on Monday, October 30 at the Union League Club of New York. To reserve your ticket, please visit firstthings.com/Erasmus ([link removed]) .

To most of you, our Erasmus honoree needs no introduction. A long-time author and now contributing editor for FIRST THINGS, Carl R. Trueman is a professor of biblical and religious studies at Grove City College and a fellow with the Ethics and Public Policy Center.

His 2020 book, The Rise and Triumph of the Modern Self, has become an indispensable resource for religious believers seeking to understand the complexities of our therapeutic moment: not least, how we got here and where we’re going.

His Erasmus Lecture, “The Desecration of Man,” will elaborate on the human costs of expressive individualism before charting the course ahead for religious believers like you and me. I hope you’ll join us on Monday, October 30 for what promises to be a rich and thought-provoking lecture from Carl R. Trueman.

Please note that while tickets are complimentary, we request that you consider making a voluntary, tax-deductible donation to help defray the costs of hosting the annual Erasmus Lecture. The suggested amount is $25 per ticket. Thank you in advance for your consideration.
Yours,
R. R. Reno
