Last month, President Biden announced his pick to lead the Social Security Administration: former Governor of Maryland Martin O’Malley.

Bill and House Democrats praised the nomination, because we know we’ve got a leader who will protect this critical program from GOP attacks. 

Years of neglect and outright sabotage by Donald Trump’s appointees at SSA have badly weakened Social Security. Republicans in Congress continue to mark Social Security for destruction, but Bill and House Democrats continue to work vigorously to keep America’s crown jewel program alive for the next century.

But we can’t just protect Social Security, we need to expand it too. 

That’s why Bill and many of his Democratic colleagues have signed-on to the Social Security 2100 Act, which will:

• Improve the annual Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA) to reflect seniors’ true costs
• Repeal the Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) and Government Pension Offset (GPO) that currently penalize many public servants
• Provide the Social Security Administration with resources to improve customer service

But to be able to position ourselves to deliver these results, we must reject the GOP next fall, friend. They’ve made it clear they will stop at nothing to enact their radical, unpopular far-right agenda, so we can’t let them.
