John,

Huge news: Last Friday, New York Governor Kathy Hochul signed the “Save the Hudson” bill! That means it's now illegal to dump radioactive waste into the Hudson River — stopping Holtec International’s plan to dump more than one million gallons of toxic, radioactive wastewater from their Indian Point nuclear plant.

Wow. What an amazing accomplishment! This was truly a grassroots people-powered effort — and it wouldn’t have happened without thousands of people like you rising up and taking action.

Holtec's planned dumping was dangerous from the start, and activists in New York and beyond quickly organized robust opposition. Together, we showed up in Albany, hit the phones, held powerful rallies, and built a movement too big for Governor Hochul and other elected officials to ignore. I hope you’ll join me in celebrating this people-powered victory!

Your activism and support made this victory possible. Will you consider making a gift to Food & Water Watch to power more work like this to protect our food, water, and climate?

At Food & Water Watch, we don't stop; we’re organizing more big things in the coming months. In September, we'll join with other groups and activists for the March to End Fossil Fuels, where thousands of people will march in Manhattan calling on President Biden to keep his climate promises.

And in October, don’t miss Against All Odds, a Food & Water Watch benefit to protect our planet, which will include a virtual conference and an in-person reception in New York City. [link removed]
