Folks,
The right to vote is fundamental. It’s as simple as that.
Yet states across the country are still passing restrictive, draconian voting laws. We just witnessed such an attempt when Ohio’s State House Republicans tried to eviscerate the state’s initiative process to prevent Ohioans from passing Constitutional amendments by majority rule. Thankfully, Ohio voters saw right through their anti-democratic attack and stopped the measure in its tracks.
But this isn’t the first effort we’ve seen and it certainly won’t be the last. That’s why Senator Warner has co-sponsored legislation to strengthen federal voting protections and make Election Day a holiday. Add your name to support his work to protect our fundamental right to vote >>
Even just earlier this year, Virginia Senate Democrats blocked a slew of GOP proposals aimed at weakening voting rights here in the Commonwealth.
They stopped GOP bills to institute mandatory voter ID, repeal the permanent absentee voter list, limit voter registration, decrease early voting, and revoke drop-off absentee voting.
The very act of voting is under siege here in Virginia and in state legislatures across the country. We need to pass Mark’s Freedom to Vote Act to make Election Day a holiday and enshrine in federal law our efforts to safeguard democracy from these attacks and protect Americans’ access to the ballot.
Sign our petition now to call on Congress to pass Senator Warner’s legislation to make sure every American can make their voice heard.
Thank you,
Team Warner
