Vicious closed cycle of forced migrancy from Central America, mainly Honduras and Guatemala
https://mailchi.mp/rightsaction/vicious-closed-cycle-of-forced-migrancy-from-honduras-and-guatemala
U.S. and Canadian politicians, ‘experts’ and most media outlets report on many aspects of the forced migrancy/refugee crisis from Central America, except how the U.S., Canada and the E.U., the World Bank and IMF, and global corporations and investors maintain full economic, political and military relations with chronically repressive, exploitative and corrupt regimes in Honduras and Guatemala, benefitting from and keeping in place conditions of violence, evictions and poverty that force so many to flee into exile, year after year.
If the US invades our country and imposes corrupt, murderous dictatorships,
then we will migrate to their country and stop complaining.
More than two-thirds of migrants fleeing Central American region had family taken or killed
US policy puts migrants at risk of kidnapping, extortion: MSF
Trump’s ‘Remain in Mexico’ program dwindles as more immigrants are flown to Guatemala or are quickly deported
One year into “remain in Mexico,” the U.S. is enlisting Central America in its crackdown on asylum
Vicious closed cycle
The Honduran and Guatemalan regimes, together with their international partners (U.S., Canada, E.U., World Bank, IMF, global corporations and investors), have created a vicious closed cycle: creating and keeping place the very conditions that force people to flee; ‘criminalizing’ and jailing people when they flee; and then deporting them back into the same conditions they fled from.
Impunity and accountability challenge in rich, powerful countries
Until there is full and proper political oversight and legal accountability in the U.S. and Canada (and other countries), in the World Bank and IMF, and in global companies and investors for their direct involvement in the conditions of exploitation and poverty, violence and corruption in Guatemala and Honduras, then the ‘vicious closed cycle’ will remain in place.

Keep sending copies of Rights Action information (and that of other solidarity groups/ NGOs) to family, friends and networks, politicians and media – always asking the question as to why our governments, companies and investment firms benefit from and turn a blind eye to poverty, repression and violence, environmental and health harms that caused the forced migrancy / refugee crisis in Guatemala and Honduras.
