Thank you for putting your trust in us at the Local Elections this May. We are honoured by your trust in us and are enthusiastic to represent the Hyson Green and Arboretum residents and business.
As your Councillors we are committed to responding to your concerns and taking action to make Hyson Green and Arboretum a better place to work, learn, live, and play safely!
Jellyfish is a touring theatre company who carried out several free performances in Parks throughout Nottingham. They make both indoor and outdoor work and perform in theatres, arts centres, schools, libraries, at festivals, in parks and public spaces. Councillors attended events in Hyson Green and Arboretum parks enjoying the outdoor performance of the Jungle Book.
Â
Jellyfish adapted the classic tale of the Jungle Book to engage children ages 3 and above whilst engaging the whole family. These performances were fun, interactive and accessible.

The Hyson Green councillors have been regularly engaging with the local community protection officers on ward walks to pick up on local issues such as fly tipping, antisocial behaviour and parking issues.
The councillors have also done a ward walk with the Police and Crime Commissioner of Nottingham with the local Community protection team, outlining issues faced by local residents and exploring how these issues can be addressed to develop and improve Hyson Green and Arboretum for the better.

Your local Hyson Green and Arboretum councillors supported with a Summer Fun day at the Forest park. This event had free entry and aimed to provide a range of activities and entertainment and games for the children to participate in. With our local community being made up of 18 different cultures and ethnicities, a cohesive day for everyone to enjoy was a great way to bring the community together! This encouraged people of the community to come together as a community and positively impacting residents.
The Nottingham Cultural festival has become very popular amongst Nottingham’s diverse communities and attracts people of all ages, genders, backgrounds, religions, and the range of activities includes a fun fair, cultural food stalls, face painting, Islamic clothing stalls, live performances and games and activities. The festival is an annual gathering that people look forward to, an opportunity for the whole family to go out.
This event was a culturally diverse festival where communities such as Christians, Sikhs, Hindus, Buddhists, people of no faith, Rastafarians and Muslims come together to celebrate the rich diversity and culture of the city and was supported by your Hyson Green and Arboretum councillors.

786 Nottingham Karimia Scouts is a local scout group for young people ages between 6-14. This is based at Bobbersmill Community Centre on Saturday mornings. Your councillors have been involved in local litter picks with the scouts group to keep Hyson Green & Arboretum clean. Your local councillors also took part in the Big Clean in June to promote cleanliness in the ward.
The African Festival reflects on the diversity of people, their backgrounds and circumstances which can be appreciated and positively valued and is an event that has been supported by your local councillors. They aim to build contacts, support and integration for NG7 events that brings people together from a variety of faiths, cultures and backgrounds to celebrate each other’s differences.
The African festival was held on the 19th of August and aimed to bring together families from across the city to engage in music, dance, arts, food, cultural dress and a wide range of activities for all ages.
The Arboretum hosted a Volunteer celebration event in June. We were thrilled to recognise and honour the hard work and dedication of the volunteers in Nottingham for Nottingham Volunteer’s Week.
The Volunteer celebration event provided an opportunity for residents to connect with fellow volunteers and share experiences. It was also a special occasion for the public to express gratitude for the valuable work the volunteers contribute towards sustaining and developing Nottingham.
