This story is another reminder why the work of pro-Israel Americans like you remains so important
Friend of Israel,
Three months after terrorists fired 1,468 rockets at Israel over five days, many Israelis who survived the onslaught are still dealing with the emotional scars.
While this fact is sad on its own, I found it even sadder when I realized I wrote a near identical statement to AIPAC supporters just two years ago, when it was three months after 4,300 rockets had been fired at Israel over ten days.
At that time, an Associated Press article noted, “Some Sderot residents say they jump at the smallest noise. Parents report children still wetting their beds or being too scared to sleep alone.”
One Sderot resident said, "It's something that you think about 24 hours a day. You can't escape it, even when you are sleeping.”
For many Israelis, it’s not just one set of attacks that keep them on edge, but the cumulative effects that have come from enduring years of rocket fire.
“Anxiety, depression, sleeping difficulties and general exhaustion” are just some of the symptoms the article noted that are now common among adults in the area.
These examples, exactly two years apart, are another reminder why the work of pro-Israel Americans like you remains so important.
It highlights why we must continue to work with America’s leaders to support Israel’s right to exist and defend itself through vital security assistance and diplomatic support that backs the Jewish state’s efforts to protect its citizens from terrorist attacks.
Your support and activism makes that happen. And it’s why I hope you will consider joining AIPAC today.
As new attacks continue both inside Israel and across its borders, our work becomes even more important.
Please show your support by joining AIPAC before our August fundraising deadline and help ensure we have the resources needed to strengthen America’s support for Israel in the important weeks and months ahead.
Together, through AIPAC and our work with Congress, we can help Israelis sleep a little easier knowing that America has their back.
Thank you in advance for your support.
The mission of AIPAC is to encourage and persuade the U.S. government to enact specific policies that create a strong, enduring and mutually beneficial relationship with our ally Israel.
