There are currently 301 U.S. military positions blocked by Sen. Tuberville – and the Pentagon estimates by the end of the year 75% of generals and admirals will be affected.

And the reason for these blockings is nothing but a further insult, to restrict abortion services for members of our military.

John, what we need now is change. And Dr. Williams has learned firsthand that real change is possible when we have leaders bold enough to take courageous action — as a Veteran, trauma surgeon, and health care advocate.

These holds were put in place to protest the Defense Department’s policy following the overturn of Roe , providing paid leave and travel reimbursements to military personnel having to leave the state they were assigned.

This not only affects our nation’s Defense Department, Air Force, Army, Navy, and Marine Corps – but its harm extends globally. Military members, who make sacrifices for our nation every single day, do not control where they serve and should not be denied health care.

Abortion care is health care – and we need a leader who knows how important it is to expand health care access instead of creating life-threatening obstacles.
