A culture of corruption only breeds more corruption. Especially when it comes from the top.

President Trump promised that he would drain the swamp, but with each passing day his actions indicate he's doing the opposite.

Whether it's pressuring the Department of Justice to alter the sentence of a personal friend or his decision to commute the sentence of Rod Blagojevich, one of the most egregious examples of political corruption in recent memory, the President's actions this week have set a dangerous precedent: There are few consequences to putting self-interest above national interest.

I ran for Congress to clean up corruption -- to put power in the hands of voters, and not special interests. It's why I refuse to accept a single dime of special interest PAC money in my campaign, and why, on day one, I was proud to introduce HR 1, the For the People Act, the bill that introduces sweeping campaign finance and ethics reforms.

In light of this week's headlines, we need to show that the American people are demanding reforms that will clean up corruption in our political system. Join me in calling on the Senate to do it's job and pass HR 1, the For the People Act today!

Thanks to the support of energized team members like you, the For the People Act passed the U.S. House months ago. But since then it's been sitting on Majority Leader McConnell's desk, collecting dust.

Repairing our government will not be easy. As you know, I've already been the target of negative ads from dark money groups that want nothing more than to stop our progress in its tracks and see me lose this seat in 2020.

But with you by my side, I'm hopeful and optimistic about our future. Change is coming, but it will take all of us raising our voices.
