HELLO, MY LOVELIES!

Happy Birthday to me! Yep, TODAY is my birthday and I wanted to tell you that you are such a gift to me. This will be my happiest of birthdays because all of you see how important our work is and continue to have our backs in this fight.

We just ended the first leg of our 2019 Abortion AF: The Tour and as we gear up to head out for the second leg of the tour, I want to share a few highlights of how we closed out round one.

We showed you how we shut down the haters during the Garbage Fyre Festival Week of Action in Wisconsin. Basking in the glow of camaraderie and righteousness, we headed to Iowa and Minnesota for shows and community outreach. Des Moines was kickass, and the Twin Cities showed up for the second year of Do Re #MeToo, our night of righteous feminists singing the most sexist songs you hate to love. So many amazing musicians ripped up the patriarchy in front of 450 fans at the sold-out Cedar Cultural Center!

Our post-show talkback featured an intimate conversation with Amy Hagstrom Miller, Twin Cities native and Founder/CEO of Whole Woman’s Health. Amy has 6 clinics in 5 states—including Minnesota—and was the lead plaintiff in Whole Woman’s Health v Hellerstedt, the 2016 Supreme Court case that challenged and struck down unconstitutional TRAP laws that placed onerous restrictions on abortion clinics!  Amy and I were joined by Erin Maye McQuade, an amazing activist from UnRestrict Minnesota, who rallied our audience to support their lawsuit challenging the harmful anti-abortion laws in Minnesota. AAF is partnering in this fight by releasing a video in August to expose the sneaky-ass way these laws got passed.

But that’s not the only way AAF is helping Unrestrict Minnesota raise awareness about this lawsuit.  I will be combining my love of corndogs AND activism by volunteering at the Our Justice booth at THE MINNESOTA STATE FAIR! Come by! Learn how you can defend abortion access in Minnesota. PLUS, we have condoms-on-a-stick! (Warning: condoms-on-a-stick are not safe for human consumption.)

SO, WHAT’S NEXT?

Drumroll Please! We head out in September to Texas and Louisiana for our second leg of the tour! If you are in Austin, Houston or Baton Rouge, we will be IN YOU (consensually, of course)! Not only will we be doing some comedy shows and clinic outreach in Houston and Baton Rouge, we will be tapping into the amazing musical pool in Austin, presenting another bad-ass Do Re #MeToo!

Soooooo...Because today is my birthday, I will humbly say, click on "DONATE NOW" on my birthday bitmoji and make a gift in honor of yours truly. It’s LEO SEASON and it’s never been a better time to become a monthly Abortion AF donor! (Just click the box to make monthly gifts automatically from your account!)

Today is the actual day, but I’ll be celebrating (and dropping hints) all month long!
