The New York Times: Lawmakers Are Warned That Russia Is Meddling to Re-elect Trump

Team, the unchecked power that Republicans like John Katko have given Donald Trump has a real impact on our democracy.

We got alarming reports this week that Russia is once again trying to interfere in our elections -- and Trump's response was to fire his own Director of National Intelligence and attack lawmakers who want to improve election security. We cannot trust our own President to put the principle of free and fair elections above his paranoia and petty grievances.

As we've said before: when Katko voted against impeaching Trump for trying to have Ukraine manufacture dirt on a political opponent, he sent a signal that any further attacks on our democracy are welcome.

So if we're going to protect our electoral process, we need lawmakers who aren't afraid to put country over party -- we need to replace Katko with a principled leader, Dana Balter.
