RIGHT NOW, Brad Raffensberger and his team at the Secretary of State’s office are actively looking to purge almost 200,000 voters from the rolls before the 2024 election. All while the Trump indictment is coming to a head in Georgia.

Lucy here with an update on our voting rights, which are under attack yet again here in Georgia.

Voting rights have always been a deeply personal issue for me – my parents were Civil Rights activists who took me to marches fighting for our voting rights while I was still in a stroller. You’d think in my entire lifetime it wouldn’t still be controversial to give everyone who is eligible the right to vote, but here in Georgia… but, our state’s Republican leaders have other priorities…

Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger has been all over the news lately because of Donald Trump’s "perfect" phone call, asking him to “find 11,780 votes.” But what’s getting less coverage is the fact that Brad Raffensperger and his team are set to remove almost 200,000 voters from the rolls before the 2024 election.

Voting is a right -- it’s not something you should lose if you don’t use it. Removing voters from the voter rolls is a gross injustice, and will disenfranchise hundreds of thousands of Georgians ahead of a Presidential election in 2024.

We’ve seen increased voter suppression here in Georgia over the last few years. As Democrats continue to win statewide elections, Republicans have attempted to wrestle away control any way they can, including attacks on Democracy itself.

I will always stand up for the right to vote, and I will continue to fight to ensure that everyone has equal access to the ballot box in 2024 and beyond. As I head into my 2024 re-election campaign, I’m focused on making sure that no one is left behind or disenfranchised.
