This is an important update, friend.
Right now, one million California residents -- primarily in rural communities in the Central Valley -- lack access to clean drinking water.
The Central Valley is the center of our nation’s agricultural economy. We provide the world with fruit and vegetables, but we struggle to provide the key ingredient of life for our own citizens. It’s a public health crisis and it needs to be addressed.
That’s why I recently introduced the Disadvantaged Community Drinking Water Assistance Act. This bill helps mid-sized cities in the Central Valley access $100 million in grants to improve clean water infrastructure.
Earlier this week, this bill made it out of the Natural Resources Committee and will be headed to the House floor for a full vote. This is incredible news, but there is still much work to do to make sure this bill passes:
Can you sign my petition to reaffirm your commitment to ending the Central Valley’s clean water crisis? We all need to come together and demand that clean water access remains a top priority in Washington.
