Important information for CFT members as Hurricane Hilary approaches
Dear John,
As we are sure you are aware, the National Weather Service is predicting that Hurricane Hilary will impact Southern California with possible dangerous and life threatening wind and rain through Monday, August 21.
For regular updates, please refer to the alerts from the National Weather Service as they continue to monitor the storm’s potential impact. The State of California is also mobilizing to respond to the impact of Hurricane Hilary and is urging Californians to check CalAlerts.gov for county-specific information and resources.
CFT has been monitoring the weather situation as it develops. At this time, many of the employers with unions we represent are monitoring the situation and have not made decisions on whether they will remain open on Monday. This is a fluid situation and it is CFT's priority to urge these employers to ensure the safety of all staff and students. Please check your phones and emails through Sunday for communication from your employer or union regarding this matter.
As a reminder, CFT has a disaster relief fund should you unfortunately lose your home due to this unprecedented emergency. Please contact your local president if you are in need of this specific assistance.
We hope that you, your family, and your community remain safe as the storm passes.
In Unity,
CFT Leadership
