The 2023 Brooklyn Power 100 is out, and guess who was in the top 15?
Yes, our favorite congresswoman and the ONLY Black woman representing New York, Yvette D. Clarke was named #14 in the Brooklyn Power 100. The ranking goes on to explain that these power 100 are part of the “political royalty of Kings County,” and with the Clarke’s history representing Brooklyn over two generations, there’s no surprise that Yvette landed at the top of this list.
The authors of City & State go in to give Yvette credit for being one of the very few people in Congress who understands the consequences of new technology. They say that Clarke is “at the forefront of action on the use of deepfake videos and facial recognition.”
From shining in the TikTok hearings and holding social media responsible for their racially biased algorithms to demanding that political ads disclose when they use deep fake AI technology, Yvette is leading the way in defending our digital civil liberties.
Yvette Clarke is the ONLY Black woman representing New York in Washington. She has a known track record of bringing together moderates and progressives to pass progressive legislation to help communities of color, low-income families, immigrants, and more.
