them, it’s getting a little hard to keep track. By this last indictment,

From his charges in New York to the rundown of what’s so important about
Georgia, use our handy guide to get a quick foundation of the differences,
and important features, of each indictment. Here’s a quick preview:

New York - The Hush Money Case (Falsification of Records)

Number of charges: 34
Bringing the charges: New York District Attorney Alvin Bragg
Federal or State-level charges: State
If reelected, could he pardon himself: No
Trial Date: March 2024
Quick overview: Trump paid hush money to Stormy Daniels through his
lawyer Michael Cohen to cover up an affair. The way those payments were
handled potentially violated campaign finance law through falsifying
records.

 

Florida - The Classified Documents Case (Obstruction of Justice,
Conspiracy to Obstruct, and Violations of the Espionage Act)

Number of charges: 40
Bringing the charges: Department of Justice
Federal or State-level charges: Federal
If reelected, could he pardon himself: Yes
Trial Date: May 2024
Quick overview: Trump took classified files with him when we kicked him
out of the Oval Office in 2020. Not only were those files [ [link removed] ]completely
unsecured, but he also showed them to visitors potentially putting
national security at risk. When asked to return the documents, he
continually refused and lied about possessing them..

 

Washington DC - The Election Subversion and January 6th Case

Number of charges: 4
Bringing the charges: Department of Justice
Federal or State-level charges: Federal
If reelected, could he pardon himself: Yes
Trial Date: January 2024
Quick overview: This is the January 6th case and centers on Trump’s
alleged conspiracy to overturn the results of the November 2020 election
which led to a deadly riot at the capitol.

 

Georgia - The RICO Case (Conspiracy to Overturn the Georgia Election
Results)

Number of charges: 13
Bringing the charges: Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis
Federal or State-level charges: State
If reelected, could he pardon himself: No
Trial Date: Not yet set
Quick overview: Similar to the DC case, this one is a state-level charge
focused specifically on the alleged actions Trump took to overturn the
election results in Georgia. The use of RICO charges (Racketeer
Influenced and Corrupt Organizations) is notable here as RICO charges
are commonly used to prosecute criminal enterprises like the mob to
convict the head of an organization.

These cases all have different focuses and scopes but the one thing that
ties them all together is the understanding that Donald Trump has avoided
accountability for his actions for too long --  and that stops now.  The
American people deserve justice, for the sake of our democracy and our
future.

While legal scholars are split on whether presidents can pardon
themselves, we know from experience that Trump is unbothered by what the
law says he can do and he plans to do anyway -- that's why we expect him
to at least attempt to pardon himself if he gets the chance.

We need your help to ensure everyone is clear on Trump’s indictments, the
clearly disqualifying danger he poses to our country, and how Republicans
are still supporting him. Here’s how we do that:

If you ever get as turned around as we do nowadays (91 charges will do
that to you), use this to refer back to for clarity! We will all be
talking about these charges a lot through November 2024. And, don’t
forget, share it with your friends.
* If you have a Republican representative, [ [link removed] ]write a letter to the
editor (LTE) holding them accountable for standing behind Trump and
helping advance his Big Lie. The ACE Act (or as we’re calling it,
[ [link removed] ]The Big Lie Bill) is tailor-made to make it easier for politicians
like Trump to cheat the American people out of elections by
restricting vote by mail, expanding corporate influence on elections,
reducing voter registration, and making voting more difficult for the
elderly and disabled -- and House Republicans are flocking to support
it. Write an LTE to publicize their schemes.
* If you have a Democratic representative, [ [link removed] ]write an LTE calling
attention to the GOP's insidious ACE Act. We cannot just work to
prevent Trump’s reelection, we must also work to ensure this sort of
election subversion never happens again. MAGA Republicans have shown
they have no problem supporting a candidate who would steal an
election from the American people, and they’re working to make it
easier. Write an LTE to show the world just how far Republicans will
go to subvert the will of the people.

Since Trump was elected in 2016, every bit of our work has led to this
moment. Until now, he has stayed one step ahead of any accountability for
his actions, but he’s finally run out of space to flee. He will face
justice. 

But MAGA Republicans are still flocking to his cause, and he is currently
the leading candidate for the Republican presidential nomination by a wide
margin. We cannot relax. It is our duty to do everything in our power to
make sure Trump continues to be a one-term president. As these indictments
indicate, our democracy depends on it.
