In case you missed it, last week an appeals court ruled in favor of limiting access to mifepristone, one of the most common prescription drugs used in medication abortion.
While mifepristone will remain on the market and unrestricted for now, this case now moves to the U.S. Supreme Court, once again giving nine justices the ability to decide the fate of abortion access for millions of people since Roe v. Wade was overturned last year.
That SCOTUS decision left almost 1 in 3 women living in states where abortion is banned or largely restricted. If they ultimately decide to let states further restrict access to medication like mifepristone, reproductive care and abortion will be even harder to legally obtain in communities across the country.
Rob is deeply disappointed in this week’s ruling, which is yet another blatant attack on individuals’ reproductive rights and bodily autonomy.
Medication abortion saves lives, empowers communities, and protects the health and future of pregnant people — which is why he’ll continue to do everything in his power to keep California a safe haven for anyone seeking abortion care and medication like mifepristone.
