Comrade,

DC's rent control laws are failing us. If the DC Council reauthorizes our current bare-bones legislation without adopting the Reclaim Rent Control platform, the DC Council will once again be voting against tenants. This year we have the opportunity to force the DC Council to close all the glaring loopholes in our law—the ones that allow developers to strong-arm tenants into raising rents 467%—but we can't do it unless someone introduces our omnibus bill to reclaim rent control for this city's working class tenants. And we need to show the Council just how many people are on our side.

This Saturday, Brianne Nadeau will be attending our rally at 3435 Holmead Place NW. Join us and the Reclaim Rent Control coalition of 40+ organizations to show the Ward 1 Councilmember what we really want—better, stronger rent control now! RSVP here. The event will be at 3435 Holmead Place NW, a rent-controlled buildings whose current conditions show just how inadequate our rent control laws are. Residents have been on rent strike since December against bad conditions (mice, bed bugs, mold) and bad management (UIP). CM Nadeau will get a tour from residents—let's rally with them to show her that her entire ward supports them and wants her to introduce a better bill, now!

If you'd like to turn people out for the event, come phonebank with us on Tuesday at 6pm! We'll be meeting at 1401 Columbia Road NW. And make sure to sign our the petition to Reclaim RentControl!

See you there!
